UNBOUND 2026 recap: what’s new in HubSpot

I just got back from Boston, where I spent a few days at UNBOUND 2026, HubSpot’s major annual conference (formerly known as INBOUND). I was there starting September 15th for Partner Day, the day reserved for partners, followed by the main event. As a HubSpot integrator and Platinum partner, we don’t just travel to attend conferences; we go to bring back actionable insights for our clients. And this year, the message was clear. Artificial intelligence and agents are no longer a promise for tomorrow. They are becoming the heart of the HubSpot CRM. Here is my takeaway for a manufacturing SMB in Quebec.

What is UNBOUND and why was Lakhos there?

UNBOUND is the new name for HubSpot’s flagship conference. The name change isn't just cosmetic: it reflects a deliberate shift toward a platform built around AI. Partner Day, on September 15th, brings together agencies and integrators from the ecosystem to discuss product roadmaps, best practices, and business opportunities. At Lakhos, we believe our role as a HubSpot agency goes beyond just configuring a tool. We need to understand where the platform is heading to guide our clients in their decision-making. That is exactly why I make the trip year after year: to return with a clear understanding of what’s coming, often before it even hits your portal.

What is the big trend this year?

If I had to summarize UNBOUND 2026 in one word, it would be "agents". HubSpot is now centralizing its AI agents so we can build, manage, and supervise them like a true AI team dedicated to go-to-market efforts. Two elements are worth highlighting:

  • Agent Hub: the central space where you build, manage, and monitor all of your AI agents.
  • Context Home: the place where agents gain a shared understanding of your business, your customers and your business model.

In other words, an agent is only useful if it understands your reality. And that reality lives in your CRM. This is precisely what HubSpot emphasized this year, far beyond the agents themselves: context.

Why is context the real fuel for AI?

The real star of UNBOUND 2026 isn't any specific agent; it’s context. An agent without context is just a generic tool that produces one-size-fits-all answers. It is the context of your platform, your CRM data, communication history, processes, and business model, that transforms that agent into a truly useful teammate. And this observation doesn't stop with agents. Context also fuels human actions, starting with your sales team. When a sales rep opens a record, the depth of the available context determines the quality of their next action. Well-fed context fuels three things at once:

1. Agent actions: they execute tasks in alignment with your reality rather than based on generalizations.

2. Your sales team's decisions: more accurate next steps, better prioritization of opportunities in the sales pipeline, and more targeted follow-ups.

3. Marketing personalization: communications based on what you actually know about the customer rather than approximate segments.

This is why feeding your platform's context is becoming a strategic priority, not just a technical best practice. In practical terms, this relies on the quality of your data, clear process mapping, and CRM/ERP integrations that bring the right information to the right place. The more your HubSpot CRM is fueled by reliable context, the better the decisions made by both your AI and your teams. This is exactly the kind of foundation we build as a HubSpot integrator: clean, structured, and connected context that AI can truly rely on.

What’s changing on the marketing side?

Marketing is shifting toward a more integrated approach. Marketing Studio 2.0 is becoming a layer that connects planning to execution, supported by new agents. For an SME without a large marketing team, it’s a way to get more done without increasing resources:

  • Campaign Agent: helps you plan and structure your campaigns.
  • Content Agent: writes blog posts, social media content, and landing pages.
  • Nurture Agent: personalizes your follow-ups at scale.

The new feature that caught my attention most, however, relates to search engine optimization for answer engines. HubSpot is launching AI Search Sensor, a tool that provides visibility into how engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity are influencing your traffic. We talk a lot about AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) at Lakhos, because your buyers are increasingly asking their questions to an LLM before they even call you. Being able to measure this visibility directly within HubSpot is a major step toward building a content strategy that truly answers your customers' questions.

How is AI transforming the sales process?

On the sales side, the goal is clear: fewer opportunities sitting idle in the sales pipeline. Three features stand out:

1. Deal Progression: continuously monitors interactions with the buyer and suggests the next logical step.

2. Revenue Agent: keeps an eye on billing actions and sends smart reminders, which directly impacts cash flow.

3. Agent Builder: allows your sales team to design their own agents for specific use cases, such as preparing for a demo, reviewing risks in the pipeline, or mapping out decision-makers at a client company.

For a manufacturer with a long and technical sales cycle, this type of automation is a game changer. A stalled quote, a forgotten follow-up, a delayed purchase order: these are revenues slipping through the cracks. When properly configured, these agents help keep the sales process moving without adding to your reps' workload.

What does this mean for your integrations and data?

This is where my CRM integrator perspective lights up, because these announcements directly impact CRM and ERP integrations. Here is my takeaway:

  • Breeze Assistant: it no longer just acts as a Q&A bot. It leverages your CRM records, permissions, configuration, and analytics to draft an email, update a record, connect to an external tool, or generate a report.
  • HubSpot Work: a workspace where your teams and agents collaborate directly within the CRM, with your contacts, companies, and deals already available as context.
  • Triggers and workflows: automations can now react to external events like a Slack message, a file update, or a webhook, and some legacy workflows can be converted into agentic workflows with a single click.
  • Data access: MCP access expands read and write capabilities across HubSpot, HubSQL opens an analytical access point using SQL, and multi-account management simplifies governance across multiple portals.

These are exactly the levers we use to connect HubSpot to an ERP like Genius ERP and ensure information flows cleanly, from the first contact to the purchase order. But I’ll say it again: all these agents rely on context. Without solid process mapping, serious CRM analysis, and clean data, an agent just automates the mess faster. The technology has advanced, but the foundational work remains the same.

What is Lakhos's takeaway for your SMB?

My conclusion after these few days in Boston can be summed up in one sentence: AI doesn't replace a good CRM; it amplifies what you have already built. A company that has neglected its implementation will see its agents produce disappointing results. A company whose HubSpot CRM is well-structured and aligned with RevOps logic will multiply the value of these new tools. It’s encouraging, because it rewards serious work rather than shortcuts. FAQ

Is UNBOUND the same event as the former INBOUND?

‍Yes. UNBOUND is the new name for HubSpot's annual conference, formerly known as INBOUND. The name change reflects the platform's shift toward AI and agents.

Are these new features already available in my portal?

‍Not necessarily. Many features are rolled out in stages, some in private or public beta, and availability varies by product and plan. It’s a good idea to check with your HubSpot partner before making any plans.

Does AI replace a CRM implementation project?

‍No, quite the opposite. Agents rely on the context within your CRM. Without clean data and clear process mapping, they will mostly just automate your existing problems. A solid implementation remains the foundation.

What is context in HubSpot and why is it so important for AI?

‍Context refers to the data, history, processes, and business model that your CRM makes accessible to AI. The richer and more reliable this context is, the more relevant the actions taken by agents and your sales team will be. It is the true fuel for AI in a CRM, and it relies on careful implementation and well-executed integrations.

How can Lakhos help me take advantage of these announcements?

‍As a HubSpot integrator, we evaluate your portal, prioritize the new features relevant to your specific needs, and ensure your CRM and ERP integrations are ready to feed these agents with reliable data.
